Description

More features equals more uses

A serious mini bike inspired by some big bike cousins then redesigned and for a mini bike packed with a host of quality enhancements including increased resistance and superior stability. MagneTrainer has several supplementary bolt-on’s to enhance the exercise experience suitable for commercial or therapeutic applications and with sixty percent more resistance than other mini exercise bikes in it’s class.

What makes the MagneTrainer better?

Magnetic Resistance provides smooth, quiet, pedal motion at all resistance settings and pedal speeds. Non-Magnetic bikes tend to have jerky pedal motion that varies with pedal speed. They can also be noisy, wear out quickly, and often require routine maintenance.

The majority of pedal exercisers do not have magnetic resistance. If they don’t mention magnetic resistance, they don’t have it. There are only two other pedal exercisers under $400 that have magnetic resistance.

Widest Pedal Resistance Range

The MagneTrainer has the widest resistance range available. The MagneTrainer has around 2-3 times the resistance range of the other magnetic pedal exercisers below and up to 5 times that of some of the cheaper bikes.

Wider, More Stable Base

The MagneTrainer has a wide solid base, which keeps it firmly on the floor or table. No rocking side from to side when you pedal. This is because both the front and rear legs are over 15 inches wide.

This device is very capable of giving a quality cardio workout as an arm bike. I injured my Achilles tendon and am stuck in a orthopedic boot for 6 weeks. I purchased this to have some outlet for cardio exercise. I use a Bluetooth polar heart rate monitor (also a great deal) to push myself during cardio workouts. In the first week my arms were not really strong enough to get my heart rate up enough. However, after I got into it, I am able to do interval training with this 40 seconds high intensity followed by 50 seconds low intensity repeatedly for about 25 minutes. By the end of the end of the workout, I am peaking at 160 BPM at the end of high intensity and down to about 125 at the end of the low intensity. At 49 years of age, this is as good if not better than my treadmill workouts. My arms are also toner than they have been for a very long time. I will probably mix this in with my treadmill and rowing machine cardio workouts even after my tendon heals. This device is the silver lining of tearing my tendon.

I took a long time looking at the MagneTrainer and other mini bikes as well as the Exerpeutic bikes. I almost purchased the new Exerpeutic 500 until one person answered a question about the MagneTrainer. What we all can do with the MagneTrainer that cannot be done with any exercise bike is push the unit away using as a recumbent, draw in closer sitting in a higher chair using it as a traditional bike, and use it for arm strength. I can sit anywhere and use the MagneTrainer, in any chair, and not be stressed if the seat starts to hurt my tailbone. And when I’m done, it tucks away nicely.

It is very quiet, very well built, and it took me ten minutes to assemble. It actually took me longer to inbox the unit. It’s not that heavy at all.

It does come with a long Velcro strap, which I have to use. I have laminate floors and if there is any trace of dust on the floor, the unit will slide. However, it is less likely to slide if it is pedaled in a downward movement.

When you assemble your pedals, be very sure the pedals are on the correct side and they are tightened. In the manual, it does state that the company does not warranty if the threads get stripped.

I am extremely happy with my purchase and I do recommend it to anyone. It is very comfortable to use, and if you think you can’t get a good workout, think again. If you can get a good workout on a recumbent, you can get a good workout with the MagneTrainer, all from the comfort of a comfortable chair of your choosing 🙂

P.S. I ordered on Dec. 10, received on Dec. 12!! (Yes, I used free shipping!)

I am a senior that bought this to replace a recumbent bike after downsizing to condo. I had to get some accessories to make it work for me but well worth it.

After trying different chairs, velcro strap, spacing etc. to get to where was no movement, wobbling, in unit or chair, I got the 22-inch wide Adjustable Leg which raises it up and changes the angle. That got rid of the wobble and instability and helped me peddle at the right angle and also made it possible to use this sitting in at recliner. Most of the time I use it pushed up against a wall and use a sticky yoga mat under a wooden chair to keep the chair from moving. I also use a wobble cushion on the chair to help exercise my core muscles and correct my posture.

My former recumbent bike had pedals with one side that was smooth and shaped to fit a bare foot nicely so I got in the habit of peddling with just my socks on. The pedals that came with this were way too narrow to pedal barefoot comfortably and I could tell the MagneTrainer large pedals wouldn’t be any better. The closest thing I found were the Sunlite Flat Form Excerciser Pedals, 9/16″ fit, and they fit the MagneTrainer perfectly and work fine .

Also ended up getting the larger display to be able to read the numbers.

When I bought this I didn’t think it would be all that comfortable to use but turns out the pedal action is very smooth and with the right setup/chair, adjustable leg, barefoot pedals, etc., it is just as enjoyable to use as my former recumbent bike and now I use it every day. So exceeded my expectations and very glad I got this.

02-08-18 Update: I screwed large rubber non slip pads to the bottom of the wooden arm chair I use for pedaling and that keeps the chair from drifiting/moving while pedaling. The adjustable leg has helped eliminate drift/movement of the MagneTrainer even on my laminate floors. So now I can use the MagnetTrainer anywhere in the house without having to use a sticky mat under the chair/cycle or push the cycle up against a wall.

I LOVE this cycler. I originally bought it to go under my desk at work as I sat all day with not much exercise. After leaving my desk job for a full time on my feet gig, I started using it while watching tv at home. I absolutely love it. At home or in the office under a desk this thing is great. Best money spent.

Absolutely awesome!! Use it everyday. Recovering from liver transplant and stroke. I lost almost 40% of my muscle. At 60 it’s not that easy to get muscle back. This has been a major factor in my return to a normal life. I actually use it more for upper body. The range of resistance is excellent. The fact that it can be used in either direction is a definite plus. the timer isn’t anything great but it provides all the information you need. There are accessories for using it for upper body, but I found that I didn’t really need them. Stability can be an issue, especially when using it on floor. I use a piece of foam liner (for tool drawers/ cupboards).

This is a great product that gets your cardio vascular system going very well and easy to use with both feet and hands, great for a wheelchair user.

So far so good! Definitely more expensive than other brands, but for the amount I use it I wanted quality and a machine capable of arm/ergo workout. I spent hours researching options for an arm cycle workout and I kept coming back to the magnetrainer. Sure, there are $100 units that would have probably done the job, but for me this needed to be a quality purchase. The arm exercise has helped significantly with my shoulder issues and preventing further injury. You just have to find the “sweet spot” with the platform you use it on, unless you spend hundreds more on an adjustable unit the company sells. I found the kitchen counter while standing is a good height, or my desk table if I’m sitting. Cycling with the legs irritates my knees due to injury there as well. The width of the pedals may have something to do with that; however it’s not necessarily a fault with the machine. Overall, it’s very smooth and I’ve enjoyed my first 6+ weeks with the magnetrainer. The desk cycle website is very useful for extra parts. I ordered the ergo handles and connectors – processing and shipping was extremely fast. The connectors help if individuals want to change between ergo handled and the standard petal, as the threading will start to strip without them. Honestly I find I use the standard petals with my arms more than the ergo handles as it feels more comfortable in my hands; yet I do enjoy the versatility. Realistically this will save me money over time avoiding physio rates and any other rehab costs. I hope this review helps others looking for the same thing because for me it was REALLY hard to find info and reviews on arm cycle machines. I wanted something that would challenge me (have enough resistance) as I do consider myself strong and physically fit. I’ve noticed a change in my muscle tone since using this machine. My arms are more defined than I’ve ever remembered
    – excellent compliment to other exercises and weight lifting routines. To be honest I think people need to talk about ergo exercise more, so perhaps I need to blog about it and post pictures:). It’s not just for injuries or elderly people. I don’t typically review. For me, being a genuine and caring health/nutrition professional means I’m always using myself as an experiment before suggesting products to my clients etc. Hope this review helps others and I will update if anything changes.

It is a perfect trainer for my particular need. My need is to strenghthen the muscles around the knee before knee replacement. Then I will use it regular after surgery to regain the range of motion of my knee.

I find it easy to use. I watch the news in the morning after some minutes on the treadmill
After I’m finished my husband uses the machine for a cardio workout after the treadmill.

The numbers on the little indicator are a challenge for older eyes, but really that’s the only thing I/we can find wrong.
